HPT&D FBM Training Harmonization Project
New Field Based Medicine (FBM) Training Program Launched on October 4th
As part of ongoing efforts to harmonize operations between Commercial and Medical, a new training program for FBM launched on October 4th. The program is the result of a strong collaboration between HPT&D, FBM and CDMA. The new training program leverages training and development expertise, systems, and existing curricula modules from the HPT&D team, as well as scientific expertise within CDMA to deliver a consistent and effective training curriculum/program for the FBM team.
From being “medical people” to being “medical business people”.
The two pillars of clinical training and essential business skills support a philosophical shift for the CDMA function at BIPI. A common framework for TA-specific training with a parallel, common core of cross-TA essential skills and systems trainings was developed.
Features include:
- Streamlined and aligned onboarding practices
- “Foundational Edge” including basic science, deep dive clinical training, and consistent assessment formats
- “Field/mission critical” essential skills and systems topics that are reinforced through field rides
- Streamlined LOS curricula
- Post-deployment “live” training to solidify the new hire learning journey
- Best practices for continuous learning
- Defined responsibilities for all training partners
It takes a village!
The training program is truly a collaborative effort and leverages the strengths of all training partners: CDMA Point People provide scientific and clinical expertise, HPT&D and a newly created Medical Training Liaison role (equivalent to the Regional Training Lead role) support effective training content and delivery best practices, and Mentors help to translate the learning journey into practice.
Many thanks to project lead Anita Okonak and the project core team of Tynia Russell, John Spoon, Joe Salazar, Jen Han, Mike Ravotti and Jennifer Kowalski (Project Manager), as well as the extended teams from HPT&D, FBM, CDMA, and HR for delivering a consistent, sustainable framework for TA-specific training and a cross-TA core business curriculum for FBM.
